======== Newsgroups: comp.databases.pick Subject: Faxing from AP/SCO From: yc@ycloh.pc.my (loh yit choong) Date: Sun, 03 Mar 1996 23:49:25 GMT Can someone point me to some software that would enable me to send faxes from an AP/SCO 6.1 system. I would appreciate a dealer that is in the Asia Pacific Region as I am located in Malaysia. Thanks. ======== Newsgroups: comp.databases.pick Subject: Re: Faxing from AP/SCO From: waltman@netcom.com (Fred Waltman) Date: Thu, 7 Mar 1996 05:44:02 GMT In article <4hdb47$1l3@jaring.my>, loh yit choongwrote: >Can someone point me to some software that would enable me to send >faxes from an AP/SCO 6.1 system. It comes with SCO drivers and a pretty easy command line syntax. The process was: write fax to a pick item; use export command to get it to a unix file; EXECUTE '!sendfax ' It works real well. We had some problems with ownership of the unix file, but that was easily solved. The big drawback was the limitations in fonts -- everthing was in Courier, fixed pitch. Also, it was text only. But other than that it worked OK and they have done some mass faxings (1000+ names) over a weekend. Hope this helps. -- Fred Waltman Culver City Home Brewing Supply Co. waltman@netcom.com http://www3.ios.com/~cchbs/ "You can make better beer than you can buy." ======== Newsgroups: comp.databases.pick Subject: Re: Faxing from AP/SCO From: bmonten@adelaide.on.net (Brett Monten) Date: 7 Mar 1996 11:12:59 GMT In article <4hdb47$1l3@jaring.my>, yc@ycloh.pc.my (loh yit choong) says: > >Can someone point me to some software that would enable me to send >faxes from an AP/SCO 6.1 system. I _think_ the fax module can be separated from the main product, and I'm pretty sure it works off and fax/modem when you have unix. Send an email to Ray Methvin at r.methvi@granite.monolith.com. Also, there is a guy called Ross Ferris who posts to this group occasionally. I think he's based in Australia, and I found him _extremely_ helpful when looking for fax software. I don't have his email address on hand, but can get it for you if you need. Happy faxing, and if there's anything else you need, stop in at our web page (below) and drop us a note.
