 1962 Mexican Gold Medal

This medal was issued to commemorate the Centennial of the

"Heroica Batalla de Puebla"(Heroic Battle of Puebla).

The Battle of Puebla took place during the French intervention in Mexico on May 5, 1862 near the city of Puebla. The battle ended in a victory for the Mexican Army and is celebrated during the festivities of Cinco de Mayo. This medal is minted in .900 fine gold and contains 1/2 troy ounce of pure gold. The medal is 27.5MM in diameter and weighs 17 1/2 grams.

The obverse depicts a bust of General Ignacio Zaragoza.
