One of the largest single-focused coin series
ever minted was the 1972 Munich Olympics Silver Coins issued
by Germany. The series was produced to celebrate the 20th Olympiad
held in Munich, Germany during 1972.
Six different coin themes were produced in proof
silver and uncirculated silver quality by four of the five German
Mints.
The six themes included "In Deutschland",
"Schleife", "Athletes", "Stadium",
"In Munchen", and "Flame". The coins were
struck in a composition of 62.5% silver and have a weight of
15.50 grams and diameter of 33 mm.
