The three coins in this series
are dual dated 1991-1995, but were issued in 1993 to commemorate
the 50th anniversary of the United States' involvement in WWII.
The dollar was designed by Thomas
D Rogers, sculptor and engraver at the US Mint. The obverse depicts
a US soldier on the beach at Normandy while the reverse features
a quote from General Dwight Eisenhower beneath the shoulder sleeve
insignia of Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force.
Proof dollars were struck at the West Point Mint and Uncirculated
dollars were struck at Denver.

a clad half dollar and a $5 gold coin.
