These coins were minted to commemorate the
2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games. The obverse of the
silver dollar was designed by John Mercanti and features the
Crystal Emblem of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Olympic Rings,and
the Games' secondary identity mark entitled "Rythum of the
Land". The reverse features the Salt Lake City skyline with
the Rocky Mountains in the background and was designed by Donna
Weaver. Only 35,380 Uncirculated silver dollars were minted while
143,793 proofs were produced. |
